Easy Directions to Tomar By Car, Rail, or Coach
By Car
From The North
Starting Point: From Porto, head towards the A1 motorway, which connects Porto to Lisbon.
Follow the A1: Drive south on the A1 for approximately 180 km.
Exit for Tomar: Take Exit 7 (A13 – Tomar/Coimbra Sul) and follow signs for Tomar.
Final Stretch: Merge onto the A13 and continue for about 20 km until you reach Tomar.
Approximate Travel Time: 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic.

Note that the A1 has tolls. Be prepared with a Via Verde device or cash/card for payment.
From The South
Exit Lisbon Airport and follow signs for the A1 motorway, heading north.
Take the A1 Motorway: Drive north on the A1 for approximately 115 km.

By Rail
From the North

Change Trains: At Entroncamento, switch to a regional train heading to Tomar. This leg of the journey takes about 20 minutes.
Final Destination: Arrive at Tomar Train Station, located within walking distance of the town centre.

From the South

From Oriente Station to Entroncamento: Board an Intercidades (Intercity) or Regional train to Entroncamento. The journey to Entroncamento takes approximately 1 hour.
Change Trains at Entroncamento: Switch to a regional train heading to Tomar. The journey from Entroncamento to Tomar takes about 20 minutes.
